PHP Progammer

Neopost Software and Integrated Solutions is looking for an experienced PHP programmer to maintain and develop software for one of our popular accounting applications.  If you are a talented developer looking to expand your knowledge and you thrive on making a difference, this is the job for you!

The ideal candidate will be comfortable in PHP and a fast learner, as they will need to maintain Delphi and C# services for Windows applications as well. The position includes maintenance and support on a mature product sold in 18 countries worldwide (and growing steadily), so i18n experience is a huge plus.

Based in Austin, Texas, Neopost Software and Integrated Solutions supports and develops full-service shipping technologies for Fortune 100 companies and major European carriers.  This position will give you the opportunity to work closely with our local development team as well as with other groups in the US and Europe.  We combine the advantages of a dynamic, high-energy start-up environment in a small team locally with the perks of a large multi-national corporation that is financially stable and offers great employee benefits.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Design, develop, and maintain software according to functional and technical
  specifications
• Troubleshoot customer-reported problems both remotely and onsite
• Research and identify cause of reported bugs and issues
• Develop patches and bug fixes and support their deployment to the field
• Implement semi-annual changes to international postal product databases
• Help develop and maintain an automated build and test system using virtualized
  servers

Skills required:

• 3 years of programming experience with an emphasis on web based applications
• Advanced knowledge of PHP combined with a strong Javascript background,
  including AJAX
• Very comfortable with SQL and relational databases, specifically InterBase /
  Firebird DB
• Solid, demonstrated problem solving and debugging skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (additional languages
  are a plus)
• Some knowledge of Python or experience in other, similar interpreted languages
• Must have a strong work ethic and be a fast learner willing to pick up new
  technologies as needed

Experience desired:

• Experience developing software in a team using Agile / Scrum methodologies
• Some experience with internationalization and localization (i18n)
• Strong knowledge of XHTML/CSS and experience supporting multiple browsers
• Experience with version control systems, especially Subversion
• Some knowledge of Windows applications and services that interface directly
  with hardware
